The Untold Story
British commandos packed an old warship with four tons of explosives and charged a Nazi port.
Their target was the massive dry dock in Saint-Nazaire, France, the only Atlantic dock that could repair the battleship Tirpitz.
Disguised with fake German flags, the explosive-rigged destroyer took heavy fire and rammed directly into the dock gates at full speed.
The commandos escaped into the city, leaving the ruined ship wedged deep in the dock.
The next morning, dozens of senior German officers boarded the ship to inspect the wreckage.
At noon, hidden delayed fuses detonated four tons of explosives, destroying the dock for the rest of the war. Subscribe for more.
